Here the comparison is between the 14-inch Pro with M6, announced in October 2026, and the 14-inch Pro with base M5, introduced in October 2025. M5 Pro and M5 Max are separate chip tiers. Establishing those identities prevents a price comparison from mixing different parts of the range.

Identify the model rather than its purchase year
Apple introduced the MacBook Pro with base M5 on October 15, 2025. In March 2026 its starting SSD increased to one TB, but the model did not become a new generation. Read the installed capacity on a listing; the date its owner bought it cannot establish that configuration.
M6 was announced on October 27, 2026, with availability scheduled for November 6. On November 4 that is still a future date and does not establish Teveotecno inventory.
Evaluate useful work rather than core counts alone
M6 adds CPU and GPU cores compared with base M5. Assess that difference using the application and project you need: an export, build or normal multitasking session. Manufacturer test results should not be treated as an identical improvement promised for every program.
For AI tools, verify the software and model memory requirements alongside the processor choice.

Both models use Liquid Retina XDR. A later chip does not make the display PROLED. Compare memory, SSD, disclosed battery condition, marks, charger and warranty terms on the listed Pro devices. Within a fixed budget, a suitable installed configuration can matter more than choosing the latest generation by default.
